SEO and GEO – simply explained.

SEO means search engine optimization: your website should appear high up on Google when someone searches for your service – for example “physiotherapy Dresden” or “electrician Radebeul”.

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization and is the newer part. More and more people no longer just ask Google, but an AI: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot or the AI Overviews right in Google Search. These systems read websites, summarize and name providers. GEO means structuring content so that they clearly understand your company, your services and your location.

The most important question isn’t which technical terms sound good – but what your customers actually type. Often these are very simple words. Exactly those belong in headings, copy, subpages and questions. And because people trust real people, real photos are part of it for me too: your team, your rooms, your work.

Who for

New website or existing site.

New website

With every website I design and build, SEO and GEO are included from the start – together with individual design and real photos instead of stock images. Websites start at €600 net.

Web design & prices

Existing website

Your website looks good, but hardly anyone finds it? I’ll take a look – search terms, structure, technology, Google profile – and tell you honestly what’s missing and whether optimization is worthwhile or a rebuild makes more sense. Afterwards you get a fixed quote.

Have your website checked

The proof

My own website.

I designed, photographed and built this website myself – following exactly the principles I describe here. For search terms such as “Businessfotograf Dresden” and “Sportfotograf Dresden” it ranks on the first page of Google (as of September 2026).

For highly competitive terms it takes longer, and that’s part of being honest too: SEO doesn’t work overnight. I’ve written down how I think about it in the blog post “If you’re not found, you’re overlooked”.

Process

How I go about it.

  1. 1. Check

I look at your website, your Google profile and your competitors – or we start right away with the concept for a new site.

  2. 2. Search terms

What do your customers really type? I analyze this with AI tools and align it with you and your actual services.

  3. 3. Structure & content

Pages, headings, copy, questions and images – plus the technology in the background: structured data, sitemap, llms.txt.

  4. 4. Patience & care

First results often show after weeks, bigger changes more like after three months or longer. After that: new content and regular checks.

Frequently asked questions about SEO and GEO

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO (search engine optimization) makes sure your website appears high up on Google when someone searches for your service. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the newer part: structuring content so that AI systems such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot or the AI Overviews in Google Search clearly understand and can mention your company, your services and your location. The two are closely linked – what is clearly written and well structured for people is also better understood by machines.

Will my website then also be found by ChatGPT and the like?

Nobody can guarantee that – including me. AI systems decide for themselves which sources they cite. What demonstrably helps: clear, factual content, unambiguous information about services and location, structured data, an llms.txt file, genuine reviews and consistent company data across all platforms. That’s exactly what I work on.

How long does it take until I’m found on Google?

For specific search terms, the first results sometimes show after just a few weeks; for highly competitive terms it’s more like three months or longer. And even then, SEO isn’t a one-off task: a website gets better when it’s developed further, expanded and reviewed regularly.

Do you guarantee first place on Google?

No – and anyone who promises that isn’t trustworthy. Google determines the ranking, not the web designer. I make sure your website meets all the requirements and show you how it develops.

Do I need a blog for this?

Not necessarily. But a blog helps because it answers questions customers actually ask – and Google and AI search like to pick up exactly such answers. A few good posts a year are often enough.

Why are Google reviews so important?

Genuine reviews build trust – with people and with search engines. When customers naturally describe what you helped them with, it creates an additional signal for exactly that service. You shouldn’t dictate anything to customers, though.

Do you work with AI on this?

Yes. With AI tools I analyze and structure topics, search terms, page structures and FAQs. This results in copy and page concepts that I discuss with you. But AI replaces neither you nor the design: every piece of content is checked, adapted and aligned with your actual services.

How much does search engine optimization cost?

For new websites, the SEO and GEO basics are part of the fixed price – websites start at €600 net, with a photo shoot at €1,200 net. For existing websites, the price depends on the scope: after a short check you get a fixed quote. All prices plus 19% VAT.
